SAIL plans processing plant in HP

Steel Authority of India Ltd (SAIL) is planning a steel processing plant at Nahan in Himachal Pradesh. Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan said in Chandigarh the plant was targeted to facilitate the industrial development in the states of Himachal Pradesh and Punjab. The unit will have a capacity of 50,000 tonnes per annum. It will entail an investment of about Rs 100 crore and be executed by the public sector steel giant SAIL. The traditional steel industry of Punjab at Mandi Gobindgarh and Batala has been marginalised due to obsolete technology.
